A prime cost sum in RICS NRM 2 is a supply allowance within a unit rate, such as a tile allowance per square metre. Labour, fixing materials and other rate components must be identified separately. Terminology can differ between documents, so establish the definition used in your own contract before comparing prices.

Record the supply allowance, selection, quantity, wastage basis and other rate components. The bill of quantities guide explains how quantities and rates fit together. Our quantity surveying services can help identify rate components and explain the commercial effect of a changed selection.
