About Quantsurv
Quantsurv is an independent construction claims and dispute resolution consultancy for subcontractors, based in London and working nationwide. We work only for subcontractors, on the claims and disputes that cost them money.
What we do
Claims & Disputes
We cover the 15 claims and disputes a subcontractor faces, from a subcontract you are about to sign to a main contractor going bust. Each claim has two services. Prevention puts the systems in place so the loss never happens. Recovery deals with the loss once it has happened, from the figures and the evidence through to negotiation and adjudication. For the subcontract itself, one review finds the problems before you sign, and the other explains what you have signed. Our claims work is on the money side, known as quantum. We do not do delay analysis or extension of time work. Where a claim depends on a delay case, a programming specialist provides that case, and we work out what the delay cost.
How we work
Fixed fees, never billable hours
We agree a fixed fee for the work before we start. Where the size of the job cannot be known at the start, we fix the fee in stages. You can budget with certainty, and our interest is the same as yours. Hourly billing rewards time spent. A fixed fee rewards a thorough result, delivered quickly. We have no reason to drag the work out, and you never need to wonder whether we are. The Billing page sets out why we work this way.
One person throughout
The person who agrees your scope is responsible for the work, from the first conversation to the final document.
Agreed in writing first
We confirm the scope, the fee and the payment terms in writing before any work starts. If the scope changes, we agree the change with you in writing before we do that work. Fees are quoted on enquiry.
Figures that can be followed
We trace every figure to the contract, the records and the build-up behind it. We set it out so a third party can follow it, whether that is your main contractor's surveyor or an adjudicator.
Clear about our role
We work on the commercial and contractual side of claims and disputes. When a question turns legal, we say so, and it goes to a solicitor. Everything on this site is general guidance, not legal advice.
Who we are
Jack leads every commission and writes the guidance published on this site.
He holds a First Class BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying from the University of Reading, and his professional memberships are MCIArb, MICCP, MCSA and MQSI. He is studying part-time for an LLM in Construction Law and Practice at the University of Salford, from September 2026.
MCIArb means Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. MICCP means Member of the Institute of Construction Claims Practitioners. MQSI identifies membership of Quantity Surveyors International.
