Do they pay?
Look up a company’s payment times, late payments and terms. Compare its reported figures with other companies.
How to use it
Search by registered company name or company number, then choose the company on your contract. Start with its average payment time, invoices past their deadline and payments taking over 60 days. You can change the reporting period and comparison group, then read the terms and earlier reports below.
Understanding your results
Payment figures cover qualifying business contracts in each company’s report, which can include more than construction work. Shorter terms do not necessarily mean faster payment. Read the company’s explanation of when its payment clock starts.
“Not reported” means no usable figure was supplied for that question, or the question did not apply to that reporting period. “Not available” means fewer than five eligible companies supplied a usable comparison figure. A missing report is not evidence of poor payment.
How it works
Quantsurv calculates these comparisons from the GOV.UK payment practices export. The data is checked for updates at most once a day when the tool is used.
We take one latest report per company ending within the 365 days up to the selected report’s end date. Reporting periods must last 150 to 210 days. We exclude reports with missing core figures, no reported payments, or payment timing bands that do not add up to 100% within rounding tolerance. Corrected reports replace older submissions for the same company and period.
The construction group contains companies that answered yes to the newer question about qualifying construction contracts. It is not every construction business or a Companies House industry classification. Older reports may have no comparable construction group. All reporting companies includes other sectors.
By default, the comparison is the middle company’s figure (the median): half of the reported values are at or below it and half at or above it. This prevents an extreme submission from dominating the comparison. The ordinary average (mean) is also available below. Each company has equal weight; neither calculation is an average of every invoice or pound paid. Missing values are excluded separately for each measure and extreme reported values are retained. Standard terms and payment volumes differ, so the averages are context rather than a verdict. The selected company is included if eligible. This is Quantsurv’s calculation, not the government’s annual industry statistics.
