What it means in practice
Read this alongside SCL Delay and Disruption Protocol.
Relevant Matter is JCT terminology associated with loss-and-expense entitlement. The selected form and amendments determine the matters covered and the conditions for recovery. A Relevant Event and a Relevant Matter can overlap, but they serve different contractual purposes.
Check the money provision as well as the time provision. Delay and disruption recovery can help relate additional cost to the event and applicable terms.
Worked example
The facts
A specialist receives an extension of time after delayed access.
What happens
It separately checks whether the cause falls within the applicable money-entitlement provisions.
It records additional cost and explains why that event caused it.
What this shows
The extension is relevant background, not automatic proof that all associated costs are payable.
