What it means in practice
Read this alongside SCL Delay and Disruption Protocol.
Relevant Event is JCT terminology used in the extension-of-time mechanism. The relevant form, edition and amendments identify qualifying events and procedural requirements. An event on the list does not eliminate the need to show its effect on completion, and financial entitlement is considered separately.
Record the event and programme effect together. Extension of time support can help organise the evidence behind the requested adjustment.
Worked example
The facts
A subcontractor receives a change instruction that may affect its completion sequence.
What happens
It checks whether the event falls within the relevant subcontract provisions.
It explains which activities and completion date are affected, with supporting records.
What this shows
The event is connected to time entitlement without assuming that it also establishes a money claim.
