A default payment notice is part of the statutory payment-notice mechanism, not a general overdue-invoice reminder. A payer's failure may allow a payee notice, or an earlier qualifying application may already perform that role. Giving a later notice can affect the final date for payment under the applicable rules.
Check the contract, earlier application and timetable together. Underpayment recovery can help assess missing notices and the documents supporting the notified sum.
