Depots, interchanges and parking

Quantity surveying and claims support for transport depots, interchanges, bus facilities and car parks.

Commercial challenges and how we approach them

Depot and interchange projects combine buildings, yards and access routes with services and passenger or maintenance facilities. Work may be phased around continuing transport operations. Vehicle equipment, charging installations and construction packages need defined interfaces. Standalone surface and multi-storey car parks can be assessed with the same separation of structure, surfacing, drainage and directly supplied equipment.

Vehicle movements during phased construction

The Challenge

A working depot still needs somewhere to move and park its fleet. Changing the construction phases can require temporary bays or routes that were never in the original price.

Our approach

We agree the operating layout used for pricing and record each area released for construction. If the sequence changes, we can assess the additional surfacing, barriers and repeated setup against that baseline. Permanent work and temporary arrangements remain separate, so the same bay is not effectively paid for twice.

Maintenance equipment meeting the building

The Challenge

Inspection pits, vehicle lifts, wash systems and workshop equipment need coordinated drainage, structure and services. Late supplier requirements can create gaps in the base-building package.

Our approach

We check the pit, lift and wash-equipment orders against the building packages, identifying who provides the foundations, drainage and service connections.

Charging infrastructure and available power

The Challenge

Fleet charging can require substantial electrical capacity, substations and cable routes. A delayed connection or changed fleet plan can affect civil work and the date that completed bays become usable.

Our approach

We bring the network offer, chargers and depot works into one scope review. A completed charging bay may still be unusable without the agreed power capacity, so supply dates and commissioning responsibilities matter as much as the civil quantities. Where the fleet plan changes, we assess the revised installation and credit superseded provisions.

Passenger and vehicle systems at handover

The Challenge

Completed paving and buildings do not mean an interchange is ready to open. Barriers, ticketing, lighting and passenger information may still need to be connected and tested together.

Our approach

We make integration and test attendances explicit in the commercial schedule. Readiness records distinguish outstanding original work from additional requirements and support the assessment of repeat attendance.
