Quantity Surveyor

Help construction clients price work, manage costs and keep their project accounts clear from tender to final account.

About the role

Quantsurv provides quantity surveying and construction claims support to subcontractors, main contractors, clients and residential developers. We are looking for a quantity surveyor who can turn drawings, contract documents and project records into reliable commercial information.

You will work directly with Jack Butler-Kettle on agreed client assignments. The work may range from a defined estimate or valuation to continuing commercial support on a live project. You should be comfortable explaining your figures, identifying missing information and raising concerns before they become larger problems.

What you will do

  • Prepare measurements, quantity take-offs, estimates and cost plans, with clear assumptions and exclusions.
  • Review tender and subcontract information, compare quotations and identify gaps in scope or pricing.
  • Prepare or assess applications for payment, variations and final accounts against the contract and supporting records.
  • Maintain cost reports and forecasts that explain the current position, outstanding changes and commercial risks.
  • Work with clients and project teams to resolve queries, obtain the right records and keep agreed actions moving.

What you will bring

  • Practical quantity surveying experience on construction projects, with examples of work you have personally prepared or assessed.
  • Confidence reading drawings, measuring work and producing accurate, traceable calculations in spreadsheets.
  • An understanding of construction payment, valuation and change procedures, including experience applying the relevant contract terms.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, sound judgement and the ability to manage agreed deadlines while working remotely.
  • Ability to make reasonable project visits across London and the South of England.

Useful additional experience

  • Experience working under JCT or NEC contracts.
  • A relevant qualification or professional membership, or progress towards one.
  • Experience supporting more than one side of a construction project, such as contractor and client appointments.
