Claims Consultant
Investigate construction claims, assess the supporting evidence and help clients present or respond to a clear, substantiated case.
About the role
Quantsurv supports businesses and individuals with construction claims and disputes. We are looking for a claims consultant who can get to the substance of a disagreement: what the contract required, what happened, what the records show and how the amount claimed has been calculated.
Working directly with Jack Butler-Kettle, you will help prepare and review claims, responses and supporting submissions. The role combines detailed analysis with clear writing. It needs someone willing to test a position, explain weaknesses and distinguish a supported claim from an assumption.
What you will do
- Review contracts, amendments, correspondence and project records to identify the basis of a claim or response.
- Build clear chronologies and evidence schedules, separating established facts from missing or disputed information.
- Assess quantum for payment, variation, final account and other construction claims, with calculations that can be traced to their source.
- Prepare concise claim narratives, responses and supporting documents for negotiation or dispute proceedings within the agreed scope.
- Examine competing positions, identify evidential weaknesses and explain the commercial implications to the client.
- Work with project teams and other advisers to obtain information, address queries and meet submission deadlines.
What you will bring
- Experience preparing or assessing construction claims, with a clear explanation of your own contribution.
- An understanding of contractual entitlement, causation and quantum, and how the evidence connects them.
- Strong analytical writing and the ability to organise substantial project records into an understandable account.
- Confidence checking valuations, cost records and claim calculations rather than relying on unsupported totals.
- Sound professional judgement, careful handling of confidential information and the ability to work to agreed deadlines.
- Ability to work remotely and make reasonable project visits across London and the South of England.
Useful additional experience
- Experience with JCT or NEC contracts and construction adjudication support.
- A quantity surveying or commercial management background.
- Relevant construction law or dispute resolution study, or professional membership.
