# Food and beverage

Quantity surveying and claims support for food and beverage production facilities and process installation works.

## Commercial challenges and how we approach them

Production facilities combine processing areas with storage, utilities and building services. Construction can include temperature-controlled spaces, drainage and specialist finishes around operator-supplied equipment. The package needs clear boundaries between the building, production installations and operating activities.

### Hygienic zoning and the building fabric

#### The Challenge

Changes to clean and less-clean zones can affect floors, drains, walls, doors and air systems together. A late hygiene requirement can make completed work unsuitable and create disputes across trade packages.

#### Our approach

We follow the hygiene team's revised requirement across floors, drainage, partitions and air systems. Those changes need to be costed together: a new zone boundary can affect much more than the wall marking it. The account also identifies work already completed and checks whether the original specification was met, keeping changed requirements distinct from rectification.

### Production-line suppliers and utility connections

#### The Challenge

The line supplier may deliver the equipment but exclude the steam, drainage and other connections that make it usable.

#### Our approach

We compare the vendor requirements with the factory packages and assign each connection and attendance before the orders are finalised.

### Construction beside food production

#### The Challenge

Construction beside operating food lines has to fit the agreed segregation, cleaning and access arrangements. A revised production schedule can shorten a shutdown or require temporary separation to be changed after it has already been installed.

#### Our approach

We record the priced working conditions and production-release dates. Additional protection, shifts and remobilisation are assessed from actual instructions and resources, rather than a general live-factory premium.

### Cleaning, trials and release for production

#### The Challenge

Installation completion may be followed by cleaning, commissioning and product trials. Delayed utilities, unavailable ingredients or incomplete equipment can create repeat attendance and disagreement over handover.

#### Our approach

We establish who supplies the trial inputs and which cleaning, commissioning and production support are included. Trial and readiness records help determine whether a return visit is an extra or part of completing the original obligation.
