# Sport, leisure and event venues

Quantity surveying and claims support for sports facilities, leisure buildings, conference centres and exhibition venues.

## Commercial challenges and how we approach them

Leisure construction may combine public buildings with courts, pools, pitches, spectator areas and external works. Specialist installations and surfaces can sit alongside ordinary building packages. The scope needs to identify the interfaces and the facilities included at each handover. Conference and exhibition venues also need clear allowances for flexible spaces, event services and separately supplied equipment.

### Pool tanks, finishes and water testing

#### The Challenge

On swimming-pool schemes, tank testing, waterproofing and finishes need a coordinated sequence. Leakage or delayed testing can require repeat attendance and create disputes about whether the tank, lining or penetrations are responsible.

#### Our approach

The technical investigation needs to establish where the leakage or failure originates. We use those findings alongside the package scopes and testing records to assess investigative work, rectification and consequential attendance separately. This avoids passing the whole cost of a failed test to whichever trade happened to attend it.

### Specialist sports systems meeting the building

#### The Challenge

Movable seating, sports floors and timing systems can introduce fixing, tolerance and connection requirements that are absent from the base-build price.

#### Our approach

We reconcile the specialist orders with the building packages before installation. Where a requirement changes, the valuation includes the affected supports, openings and services as well as the specialist item.

### A fixed event or season opening

#### The Challenge

A booked event may proceed while permanent works remain incomplete. Temporary facilities and partial handovers can make the venue usable, but leave return visits, security and protection costs after the event.

#### Our approach

We agree the scope of the event milestone and price temporary or accelerated measures before instruction where possible. The account keeps those measures separate from the permanent work still owed.

### Pool and leisure plant commissioning

#### The Challenge

Pool treatment, ventilation and controls cannot be commissioned as if each were an independent installation.

#### Our approach

We check the testing dependencies and attendance allowed in the specialist orders. If a team has to return, we establish whether its own work was incomplete, another system was unavailable or the testing requirement changed. The assessment follows the actual cause, dates and resources, including any work carried out during the original visit. A second attendance is evidence of cost, not by itself evidence that the cost is recoverable.
