## What it means in practice

Sectional completion divides the works into contractually defined sections with their own completion arrangements. Dates, damages and release provisions should be checked for each section. It differs from taking possession of an unplanned part during the work.

Check that your package obligations align with the relevant sections. [Delay damages prevention](<https://www.quantsurv.com/liquidated-damages/services/delay-damages-prevention>) can help identify exposure where section dates or allocations are unclear.

## Worked example

### The facts

A project defines Blocks A and B as separate sections with different completion dates.

### What happens

1. The subcontractor identifies which parts of its package belong to each block.

2. It tracks notices and completion evidence against the corresponding section.

### What this shows

A delay affecting Block B is analysed against that section's terms, rather than automatically applied to the whole project.
