Guidance for England and Wales. Check the contract, amendments and facts that apply to your job.

## What it means in practice

Read this alongside [SCL Delay and Disruption Protocol](<https://www.scl.org.uk/sites/default/files/documents/SCL_Delay_Protocol_2nd_Edition_Final.pdf>).

Relevant Matter is JCT terminology associated with loss-and-expense entitlement. The selected form and amendments determine the matters covered and the conditions for recovery. A Relevant Event and a Relevant Matter can overlap, but they serve different contractual purposes.

Check the money provision as well as the time provision. [Delay and disruption recovery](<https://www.quantsurv.com/delay-and-disruption/services/delay-disruption-recovery>) can help relate additional cost to the event and applicable terms.

## Worked example

### The facts

A specialist receives an extension of time after delayed access.

### What happens

1. It separately checks whether the cause falls within the applicable money-entitlement provisions.

2. It records additional cost and explains why that event caused it.

### What this shows

The extension is relevant background, not automatic proof that all associated costs are payable.
