Guidance for England and Wales. Check the contract, amendments and facts that apply to your job.

## What it means in practice

Read this alongside [section 110A of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996](<https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1996/53/section/110A>) and [section 110B of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996](<https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1996/53/section/110B>).

A payment application explains the amount claimed for a payment cycle and its calculation. The contract may specify dates, recipients, format and supporting records. An application may also have a notice function where the applicable mechanism provides for it, but that should not be assumed from its label.

Connect each valuation to records and preserve proof of submission. [Underpayment prevention](<https://www.quantsurv.com/underpaid/services/underpayment-prevention>) helps build a repeatable application process.

## Worked example

### The facts

A specialist prepares a monthly application including measured work and two instructed changes.

### What happens

1. It separates the original scope, each variation and previous amounts paid.

2. It submits to the required recipient on the agreed date and keeps the delivery record.

### What this shows

The application explains both the amount and the route by which it was claimed, reducing avoidable uncertainty.
