# Scott schedule template

Set out disputed items, each side's figures and the supporting evidence in one editable schedule.

by [Jack Butler-Kettle](<https://www.quantsurv.com/about#jack-butler-kettle>) · About 3 min readShare

## How to use it

Use one row for each disputed defect, damage item or contra-charge. Keep the original item references so both parties can match their responses.

A Scott schedule organises a dispute. It does not establish liability, replace a notice or set the procedure for adjudication or court proceedings.

### Scott schedule

One row per disputed item. Preserve both parties' positions and stable item references. Amounts exclude VAT.

Scott schedule: completed fictional example
| Item ref | Allegation / location | Claimed amount (£) | Amount accepted (£) | Difference (£) | Contractual basis | Evidence references | Your response | Other party response | Outcome / next action |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| CC-01 | Making good damaged partitions, Level 2 | £8,000.00 | £2,000.00 | £6,000.00 | Check the deduction and damage provisions | Photos P01–P06; invoice I01; access log AL1 | Accept the evidenced repair to our work only | Balance maintained; further records awaited | Request allocation of remaining repair costs |
| CC-02 | Cleaning shared access areas | £3,500.00 | £500.00 | £3,000.00 | Check responsibility for shared areas | Cleaning records CL1; site diary SD4 | Accept allocated cleaning of our area | Allocation not yet supplied | Request dated allocation and invoices |

Enter a genuine zero where nothing is accepted. A blank figure remains unresolved. Differences do not establish entitlement.

## Understanding your results

Read each row as a disputed item with separate positions and supporting records. The total is a reconciliation of the entered amounts, not a finding of liability. Flag missing evidence and unresolved responses before drawing a conclusion.

## How it works

- Copy the allegation and the other party's amount without changing their meaning. Identify the contract term relied on.
- Enter the amount you accept, including an explicit zero where appropriate. The difference calculates only when both figures are present.
- Explain your response and link each point to dated photographs, instructions, invoices or site records.
- Keep the other party's response separate from your own. Record agreements and unresolved points without overwriting earlier evidence.
- Check the total against the deduction in the payment documents. Keep VAT and any disputed tax treatment separate.

In the fictional example, £8,000 of making-good charges are compared with £2,000 accepted. The £6,000 difference identifies the disagreement; it is not a recovery prediction.

The second item compares a £3,500 cleaning charge with £500 accepted. Together, the two disputed differences total £9,000.

Where deductions remain unsupported, a [Contra-charge review and challenge](<https://www.quantsurv.com/claims?service=%2Fcontra-charges%2Fservices%2Fcontra-charge-recovery#client-types>) examines the contractual basis, notices and evidence behind each item.
