## Further detail

Read this alongside [section 110B of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996](<https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1996/53/section/110B>).

A default payment notice is part of the statutory payment-notice mechanism, not a general overdue-invoice reminder. A payer's failure may allow a payee notice, or an earlier qualifying application may already perform that role. Giving a later notice can affect the final date for payment under the applicable rules.

Check the contract, earlier application and timetable together. [Underpayment recovery](<https://www.quantsurv.com/claims?service=%2Funderpaid%2Fservices%2Funderpayment-recovery#client-types>) can help assess missing notices and the documents supporting the notified sum.
