## How it works

Set it up once. Bob stays on it until it's sorted.

1. 01Your documents

2. 02Bob reads them

3. 03Bob works it out

4. 04Bob sends each letter

5. 05Bob reads replies

6. 06Paid

1. Step 01

    ### Tell Bob what happened, once.

Answer Bob's plain questions in a chat, or upload your application, invoices, notices and contract. Bob reads them and shows where each fact came from, so you can check it.

![What Bob found in the documents for an underpayments case: the payment terms, no payment notice, a pay less notice of £20,000.00 and £20,000.00 paid so far, each with a link to the page it came from, a Companies House check, then Bob asking whether that is all right.](<https://www.quantsurv.com/images/bob/found-detail-702.webp>)

2. Step 02

    ### See where you stand.

Bob works out what you are owed, by when and what happens next, with fixed rules that count days the way the Construction Act does, bank holidays included.

![The case panel for an underpayment: £28,250.00 owed since 23 September 2026, the next step, a reminder, the checks before Bob chases it, and which letters send by themselves and which ask you first.](<https://www.quantsurv.com/images/bob/underpayment-panel-402.webp>)

3. Step 03

    ### Set it and forget it.

Choose which letters go by themselves and which Bob asks you about first. Bob sends each letter as it falls due, in the right order and signed with your details, and keeps going until you are paid.

![A letter of claim to a homeowner for an unpaid £8,400.00 invoice for a kitchen extension, with the note that it goes by post with the forms the debt protocol requires.](<https://www.quantsurv.com/images/bob/invoice-letter-panel-402.webp>)

4. Step 04

    ### Hear what matters, your way.

Bob reads their replies, pauses when they promise to pay and stops when you are paid. Bob tells you by email as each step happens, and keeps every step in the case history.

## Taking the pain out of payments

- ### Time back.

No more chasing emails, diary reminders or working out notice dates. Bob does the chasing so you can run the job.

- ### Less stress.

You know where every payment stands, what happens next and when. Bob looks after every notice, deadline and letter for you.

- ### A stronger position.

Every letter is on time, in the right order and on record, so if it goes to adjudication or court you are ready.

## One agent. Three jobs.

Bob handles the three ways construction businesses most often go unpaid. Start a case and Bob picks the right workflow, and moves your details across if another fits better.

- ![Bob, Quantsurv's AI agent](<https://www.quantsurv.com/images/bob/bob.svg>)

    ### Underpayments

For applications for payment that were paid short, paid late or ignored. Bob checks the payment and pay less notices and works out the sum due under the Construction Act.

    ### Invoice chasing

For unpaid invoices outside the Construction Act, such as work for homeowners and one-off jobs. Bob adds statutory interest and compensation where the law allows.

    ### Retention recovery

For retention that should have been released at practical completion or at the end of the defects period.

## Why Bob

- ### Built by construction claims specialists.

Quantsurv is a quantity surveying and construction claims consultancy. Bob follows the same rules we apply when we recover payments for clients.

- ### UK payment law built in.

Bob applies the Construction Act payment rules, section 116 day counting with bank holidays, the Late Payment Act interest and compensation, and the pre-action rules for letters before claim.

- ### Rules decide. Bob reads.

Bob's AI only reads your messages, documents and their replies. What you are owed and what each letter says come from fixed rules and fixed templates, never from a guess.

- ### Set and forget.

Set a case up once. Bob watches every date, sends each letter when it falls due and stays on it until the money is in.

- ### A QS in the loop.

Bob is an AI agent, and a Quantsurv quantity surveyor is on call for anything Bob needs clarified. Bob hands disputes, insolvency, unclear replies and anything unusual to that person, not to a guess.

- ### Firm, fair and plain.

Bob's letters are formal and clear, never threatening. The other side hears from Bob no more than once in any 7 days, which protects your position if it goes further.

## What people use Bob for

## Built to be fair

Getting paid should not cost you the relationship or your position.

- Bob sends letters in the right order, with fair time to pay.
- Bob sends no more than one letter in any 7 days.
- A dispute stops the chasing, and Bob hands it to a Quantsurv QS.
- Bob keeps every letter, reply and step on record.

- No more than one letter in any 7 days, apart from replying to them (Administration of Justice Act 1970, section 40).
- Every letter gives fair time to pay and says plainly what may follow. None says 'without further notice'.
- Letters before claim follow the pre-action rules, including the 30-day reply period and reply forms for individuals.
- Every letter shows your business details and says it was sent by Quantsurv on your behalf with an automated service, with a contact for concerns.
- Bob hands replies that look odd, come from an unexpected address or contain instructions aimed at a computer to a person.

## What Bob does not do

Bob does not give legal advice, and Quantsurv is not a firm of solicitors. Bob does not issue court claims: where a claim is the next step, Bob prepares the details for you to file yourself, and adjudication goes through Quantsurv.

## Your data

Your cases are private to your account. To pull out the facts, Bob uses an AI service that reads documents and messages under data processing terms. The full details will be in our privacy notice before launch. [Privacy notice](<https://www.quantsurv.com/privacy>)

## Questions

### Who is Bob?

Bob is Quantsurv's AI agent for construction payments. Bob recovers money owed on construction work through three workflows (underpayments, invoice chasing and retention recovery), working out what you are owed and chasing it with formal letters until you are paid.

### Who is Bob for?

Subcontractors and main contractors in England and Wales who are owed money, including those working for homeowners.

### Does the AI write to my customer?

No. Bob's AI only reads your messages, documents and their replies. Bob fills every letter from a fixed template with fixed rules and signs it with your details.

### Who sends the letters?

Bob sends them from your business, by email on your behalf once you start chasing, and each says that Quantsurv sends it with an automated service. A letter of claim to an individual or sole trader must go by post, so Bob prepares it for you to print, sign and post.

### How often will they hear from Bob?

No more than once in any 7 days, apart from replying to them. Each letter gives fair time to pay.

### What happens when they reply?

Bob reads the reply. If they say they have paid, Bob asks you first before counting it. A promise to pay pauses the chasing until that date. A dispute stops the chasing, and Bob hands it to a Quantsurv QS. Anything unclear goes to a person too.

### How will I hear about my cases?

By email for now, with text message and WhatsApp coming later. You can switch updates off and check your dashboard instead.

### What does 'a QS in the loop' mean?

Bob is an AI agent; the QS is a person. When a reply is unclear, a dispute is raised or something does not add up, Bob hands it to a Quantsurv quantity surveyor, who is on call for anything Bob needs clarified.

### What if it ends up in adjudication or court?

For payments under a construction contract and for retention, adjudication goes through Quantsurv. For unpaid invoices, Bob prepares the court claim details for you to file on Money Claim Online.

### How much will it cost?

You pay for each step Bob takes, from £2 for a reminder, with no subscription or monthly fee. Starting a case and seeing where you stand is free.
